Trees and flowers begin to bloom, inspiring our senses to
explore, run free, and look forward to the new ray of sun that
leaves winter behind. As we welcome in yet another seasonal
cycle, another beginning of our own spring rhythm begins to
blossom. While January is the start of a new year, I’ve
always personally felt that spring is the true time of new beginnings!
After all, spring is when we begin the first sign of the zodiac
- Aires and when animals come out of hibernation, including
the bunny. All of these events are associated with rebirth and
new beginnings, as are the holidays of Easter, Passover, Orthodox
Easter and of course the spring equinox.
Working as a medium, this rebirthing process is something that
is quite literally a natural part of my life, for I witness
quite clearly the path of birth, death and rebirth of the soul.
Indeed, the theme of spring signaling rebirth and the death
of winter, is very much like what the soul/spirit experiences
in our own life-and -death process.
The process serves as a reminder of the continued journey we
all face and contend with in relationship to those whom we love
who have made their transitions and also serves as a reflection
of our mental, emotional and spiritual state affected by those
transitions.
I am often reminded of how so many people are affected twenty
years after a parent’s or grandparent’s passing,
when they themselves become parents. This of course is especially
true if a mother and/or father was lost when the child was very
young. I remember meeting a woman a few years back who was part
of the hundreds of women who attend the annual conference of
“Motherless Daughters.” She would meet annually
in October—breast cancer month - with other women who
had lost their mothers when they were young. The group meets
to share their experiences as mothers themselves who never had
their own mothers’ help to prepare them for being a parent.
One question that comes up from those who have experienced the
loss of a mother or other family member and later have felt
their presence is: How do I know I’ve been contacted?
Or, how do I really know that it was not just my mind and thoughts
wishing that the smell I perceived out of nowhere was actually
my mother’s perfume? Or, how can I be sure that I experienced
actual contact that day when I was in my car and feeling the
sense of loss of my son when on the radio came his favorite
song, “Stairway to Heaven,” which he used to listen
all the time with the volume pumped so loud that I thought it
would drive me nuts? The situation can become even more frustrating
and upsetting when you hear of relatives, friends, or neighbors
who are sure that they have felt the presence of a departed
loved one or had contact dreams featuring a departed loved one.
The security of others’ experience just reaffirms for
them that they haven’t been contacted, or aren’t
sure they have been contacted.
As I’ve said many times, I want everyone to know that
we are often contacted, and that the most important contacts
are NOT as dramatic as some would let you think. Instead the
contact occurs in subtle, simple ways that are right for each
and every individual. When we are ready to receive the contact,
we will receive it. And if you miss it, don’t worry because
it will come again. We just need to trust, believe, listen and
never give up that DP (dead person) contact is truly possible.
If you have not heard this message before, please here it now.
For here we are in spring, a wonderful time to soak in new thoughts
and experience the simple yet powerful joy of getting that message
from our loved ones in spirit. After all, isn’t the wonder
and beauty of spring all about new beginnings!
Yes, it is truly possible, but it’s equally important
to understand what is real and what is fiction. What is possible
and what is not. What we can do about creating our own connections
with those who have passed over, and in the process do our own
healing, while finding our own truths. To be honest, contact
can’t happen like it does in Hollywood with earthquakes,
thunder and lightning, but it will be possible to make contact
with your departed loved ones in the way that is right for you.
Knowing that you’ve had a sense you were contacted and
the many simple ways in which to enhance your connections are
parts of the journey you will need to walk in order for you
to know you have indeed had a contact or connection from your
loved one in spirit.
One thing you will have to ask yourself is how important it
is to make contact, or to know without question that your loved
ones have made or will make contact with you? If it is important
to you, and you are ready to take that HUGE leap, then begin
to explore how this might happen.
There are too many methods of DP contact to mention in this
short article. However, I speak at length about the ways in
all my books, but particularly A Medium’s Cookbook:
Recipes for the Soul. That being said, here are a few of
the most common ways for you to think about:
• dreams, the number one way of contact. Keep in mind
that it’s the specific type of dream that determines contact.
• Electrical happenings, such as light, TVs, going off
and on, even doorbells or alarms.
• Smelling, sensing or feeling a presence.
• Noticing an unexplained shadow in the room.
• Songs on the radio, words on billboards, letters and/or
numbers on license plates the pop up out of the blue when you
are thinking of a departed loved one.
• Numbers popping up seemingly out of nowhere that are
connected to births, deaths or anniversaries associated with
your departed loved one.
• While you are taking a walk, doing laundry, gardening
or even driving, thoughts of a departed loved one slips into
your mind without you consciously trying to make contact, and
you sense the experience as something special.
These are just a few things to ponder and perhaps jog your memory.
For maybe you have experienced this already.
Now go outside and enjoy Nature’s beauty by taking a walk
and asking your loved ones to give you a message. Let them know
you that you are now ready to trust that they will get a message
thru. Then, open your mind and heart to listen. After all, it’s
spring! And time for a new beginning. And isn’t that what
spring is really about? To plunge into the pool of life?
You bet it is!
