The Astrology of March and April is wild
and wooly, with the March 7th New Moon in Pisces conjuncting Uranus,
just as Mercury regains its lost Zodiacal ground from the recent
retrograde and conjuncts both Venus and Neptune in Aquarius. Then,
following the Spring Equinox by a day and a half, the Aries-Libra
Full Moon of March 21st forms a T-square with Pluto and reminds
us of the possibility, even the necessity, of massive transformation
in our lives. The New Moon of April 5th continues this trend with
stressful aspects to Jupiter and Saturn as Saturn moves into a
very close trine with Pluto. Saturn with Pluto means that something
has to give in the very structure of our lives, perhaps in the
direction that we have needed to go all along.
In order to heal outmoded patterns of behavior that no longer
serve us, it sometimes takes a kick in the pants, or in the psyche,
to get us moving in the right direction and the New Moons of these
two months each provide one. As sudden epiphany comes over us,
we will find new meaning in old illusions and explore more fully
our relationship desires and our sexual or aggressive urges with
the optimistic goal of transcending them.
Neptune and Uranus have been in mutual reception for many months
now, and this fertile combination is highlighted in the New Moon
of March, since Venus also conjuncts Neptune at this time. In
this early March timeframe we can more easily conceive of new
ideas that bring the fundamentally spiritual basis of our existence
closer to our consciousness. We also, however, have the possibility
of slipping into psychic dream states that, rather than informing
our more complete understanding of the mundane world, take us
further away. It may seem to our ordinary and escape-oriented
awareness that the world is materially centered only, and descending
into chaos at that, but the truth is far more subtle and more
hopeful. We erase the burden of doom and gloom by acknowledging
the paradoxical and multi-dimensional nature of existence, as
evidenced by all our experiences when we take a good look around
without letting our culturally derived blinders get in the way
of our naked perception.
The revolutionary and transformative energy of Pluto is also available
to us now, and helps by razing old and outworn psychic and societal
structures that are ready to be discarded. Just as in the charismatic
sixties, when Pluto and Uranus collided with Saturn opposed, we
are entering now upon another such time, with Pluto in Saturn’s
sign of Capricorn and Uranus coming into closer and closer square
with Pluto over the next four years. Perhaps Bob Dylan –
poet laureate of that earlier revolutionary era – put it
best when he said that “everybody not busy being born is
busy dying.”
The Sabian Symbol for the March New Moon degree in Pisces is instructive:
“A gigantic tent,” symbolizing the incredible and
multifaceted variety of experience that falls into our ken at
this climactic time in the turning of the ages. At the very same
time that we fully embody concrete reality, as indeed we must
if we are to survive, we must also finally begin again to acknowledge
our essential nature as spirits moving in the material world,
ethereal and not fully at home here. There is nothing wrong with
the paradox implicit in this idea, only with the limits of our
vision to see our world entire and whole. We (all) win when we
embrace the paradox and see the wonder, along with the challenges,
of our current situation.
ARIES (March
20-April 19) A time of inspiration is upon you this spring season.
You will remember all year the early part of March when the
world showed itself to you as fully magical and malleable. You
will also find that you definitely have issues to contend with,
perhaps stemming from delving into your familial background
or from over-idealizing relationship possibilities for yourself,
but these can be overcome with the persistence that this month
also brings. On into April, you a seeking an even deeper and
more profound perfection of your process. You are in the game
for keeps, and your angel guides, while sometimes practicing
tough love with you, will never let you down over the long haul.
TAURUS (April
20-May 19). You are entering into a magical time of possibility.
Starting with the New Moon of March 7th, this is the best chance
that you will have all year to imagine new ideas for your future.
This is also a time of idealization, potentially bordering on
illusion. Whatever you can dare to dream right now you can ultimately
accomplish, but a healthy dose of reality-check must also be
a part of the equation. On into April, mystical fusion brings
the message that Spirit really does help those who help themselves.
This is another month of growth in perspective, when potential
misconceptions can be seen more clearly for what they really
are. You are on an important path of self-development right
now, and a change in perception may be all that it takes to
put you over the top.
GEMINI (May
20-June 20). You are entering this two-month period into a brave
new world of your own making. Perspective shifts over the last
few weeks have paved the way for new beginnings. Your outer
world statement as reflected in workplace concerns and career
initiatives is revved up and ready to go, while your values
are coming into closer and closer alignment with your true heart’s
desire. On into April you must be careful in what you wish for,
since your fondest dreams and schemes could now begin to manifest.
After a slow buildup over the early part of the year you are
ready to enter into a new relationship with your surrounding
cosmos, and suddenly, whoosh, you’re moving rapidly down
the waterslide into an entirely different universe.
CANCER (June
21-July 20) This two-month period is for you a time of ever-changing
and volatile information flow. You are learning and transforming
as you go through the ordinary experiences of your life, and
every rock and stone in your path has something unique to tell
you. Engaging in new perspectives and accepting other points
of view, even temporarily, energizes your own development. On
into April, a slow-down in your communication and learning ability
