Devra: I love
being able to do this interview because what I know of you
both personally versus what you're about professionally
are two different things. There is so much about you two
I really did not know. In fact, I knew that Dannion’s
had near-death experiences, but I didn't realize that you’ve
had them too, Kathryn.
Kathryn: Yes, I have had two; one
at age 14 and then again at 29.
Devra: Dannion, how many have you had?
Dannion: Too many! Actually, I’ve
had one death experience and two near-death experiences.
Devra: Is that part of what brought you two together?
Kathryn: I would definitely say that's
true.
Devra: How did you two meet?
Kathryn: In 1993, a friend sent me
a video of Dannion doing a lecture in Dallas, Texas about
his first death experience. I think he recorded the lecture
in '92 in Dallas, Texas. My friend said at the time, “Kathryn
I am sending you a video you’ve got to watch. It sounds
crazy, but I’ve watched it three times, and every
time I watch it and listen to his voice, I see your face.
Trust me, you've got some real connection with this guy!”
So, she sent me the tape and I thought Dannion was very
entertaining.
Devra: That he is!
Kathryn: Exactly, and I loved his sparkling,
refreshing sense of humor. Well, at the time I was doing
celebrity interviews for a metaphysical newspaper, In
Light Times. Six months after viewing the video, my
publisher called to ask if I’d like to interview any
of the authors presenting workshops at Las Vegas’
first Whole Life Expo. She told me I could choose to interview
anyone on the roster and she proceeded to read through the
list. Dannion’s name was number three or four, and
I got so excited at the prospect of being able to quiz his
brilliant mind. And then about three months later we did
interview and I think for both of us it was just...
Devra:
Love at first sight?
Kathryn: Well, love at first sound
the interview was conducted over the telephone.
Devra: Talk about frequencies.
Kathryn: Truly, our frequencies did
match. I never thought of it as anything romantic. I just
felt intuitively that I knew him.
Dannion: Devra, in those days I was
doing 25 of these interviews a week. On that day, I was
sitting at home in my chair called the rocket ship when
she came on the line and said “Hi, Mr. Brinkley,”
and I said “That was my dad's name, I'm Dannion.”
And she said, “Are you ready for our interview?”
And I could hear in this voice a certain wonderment. This
was the first time someone asked questions that made sense.
And it wasn't the same questions that I could be in a coma
and still answer. Kathryn asked the most brilliantly constructed
questions; that in and of itself was intriguing to me. And
when I got off the phone I never forgot her. A few weeks
later I received a copy of the interview in In Light
Times, and wow… it amazed me how she made me
appear to have good sense.
Devra: You do have good sense.
Dannion: But I mean, not only was this
woman smart, she was an excellent writer, and there it began.
Kathryn: A year later I caught up with
him again, for another interview, when his second book was
released.
Dannion: Yeah, a year later she called
for another interview and I really was excited. It was such
a pleasure to talk to her. At Peace in the Light
was just published, and another 500 interviews. But I was
looking forward to just this one. What was supposed to be
a 30 minute interview lasted all day. I didn't want to get
off the phone. It was just the dreamy beauty of her-her
sensual, sexual, intellectual, articulate self.
Kathryn: About seven weeks later, we
finally met at the airport in Las Vegas when Dannion flew
in to lecture at the Whole Life Expo.
Dannion: When I saw her it was absolute, unbelievable, undeniable
love at first sight. You know, the whole nine yards where
my knees shook and my heart jumped into my throat. I was
really out there and I didn't live in a cave at that time.
I knew a lot about the wonderment of women.
Kathryn: What he's saying is he was
a globe-trotting playboy at the time...
Dannion: You hear these wonderful stories
or read about them in comic books, but so many of us never
really experience them. Yet, something even more happened.
I knew that I knew her. At the time, I was not big on reincarnation.
I was still focused on the subject of death, but I knew
this person. I felt such a familiarity and she was so beautiful.
She came sashaying down that escalator, handed me a red
rose and that was it!
Devra: Now for the readers, how old you were when you
guys met?
Kathryn: We were both over forty.
Devra: Was this your first marriage?
Kathryn: Not for me, but it was for
Dannion.
Devra: You know, one of the things I saw the first time
I ever laid eyes on the two of you was that you fit together
like puzzle pieces. I couldn't tell where one ended and
the other one began. You just have this incredible fit.
I think a lot of people, including me, are pretty callous
when it comes to love and believe that if it doesn’t
happen for you by 30 it's never going to happen at all.
Dannion: Oh, they can forget that crap.
Let me tell you something: It took me another four or five
years before I could even handle the idea of being married
because what came with this love affair was Kathryn’s
five daughters and one son.
Devra: You had six children when you met?
Dannion: You bet, and I wasn't ready
for that world so it took me a little while to adjust. Yet,
people have to understand, even if you're not actively looking
for love it will find you. When you're knees start to shake
and your heart gets into your throat and you can't get that
voice out of your mind… then you realize it's possible
for everybody.
Devra: This is the very reason I love doing these kinds
of interviews for the magazine. I think people appreciate
other people's work so much more when they know something
about them personally.
Kathryn: I agree with that. Half of
the emails we receive are from people conveying how happy
they are Dannion has finally found his soul-mate and that
he’s settled into a solid family life.
Dannion: I believe love takes you on
a mystical journey. Things happen to us all the time, but
it is important for us to consciously entwine then into
our spiritual search for meaning. Then, it becomes a lot
easier to find love or for love to find us. To build a relationship
and to work through our challenges is a huge part of our
spiritual work. We have many dreams and goals that we support
and encourage one another in attaining. Kathryn really makes
me a better person. She makes me more caring and concerned
about things I normally wouldn't be. I think that I help
her with the insight and motivations of people. She wants
the whole world to be good and do right. I know better.
Nonetheless, I have become a far greater person because
of Kathryn and an even greater person because of the kids.
They keep me straight up.
Devra: Tell me about your “Teaching people to
live passionately.”
Dannion: Well, it’s really quite
simple: I get up every day with a goal! Passion is birthed
from something you believe in, something that you can lose
yourself in. True passion begins with appreciation. A passion
for life means appreciating the things that you have by
learning how to count our blessings. I believe that Spirit
tries to teach people about the unlimited potential for
abundance in their lives. In truth, Spirit feels appreciated
when we count your blessings. And when Spirit feels appreciated
It takes great joy in showering us with more abundance.
In 1975 lightning struck me and left my personal world in
a state of destruction. Yet, despite my pain and suffering,
I continued to count my blessings. Then, at long last, I
walked back into a world that I thought I would never have,
complete with six beautiful children. Today I enjoy a life
that has a family, a perspective and untold possibilities.
So, people need to take chances. We get so frightened we
aren't willing to take a chance where love matters; especially
men. There are so many great and beautiful women with children
out there, and men are afraid to step up to the plate. They're
really missing out on the wonder of family, and the passion
it creates.
Devra: So let's totally shift gears here for a minute.
The two of you conduct tours of the Yucatan. Why the Yucatan?
Kathryn: We wanted to experience firsthand
the energies being generated in the birthplace of the Mayan
Calendar.
Devra: What do you think about 2012?
Dannion: Our trips are called “Kick
the Tires” tours. You can hear all the strange and
glorious stories, but we wanted to walk it and see it firsthand.
The Mayans created a calendar that goes backwards and counts
down to a certain phase of creation which comes to an end
December 21, 2012. Our galaxy has millions, billions of
planets and stars and it rotates through the 12 astrological
constellations every 26,000 years. The Mayans knew that
when the one age ends and the next one dawns many shifts
in human consciousness will occur.
Devra: A lot of people believe this is the end of days,
but many others say it’s just a simple shift. Will
you describe what's supposed to happen on that date in 2012?
Kathryn: It is the end of days in one
regard, because it is an end of one phase of creation and
hopefully we will be ascending into a higher frequency of
light. Some people call it a higher dimension.
Devra: We're not talking about ascending off the planet
like some people believe.
Kathryn: That's not what we believe.
But there are those who think we will remain on this planet,
but at a higher frequency and in a higher dimension. Yet
for those who want to stay in the third dimension, who want
to live lives of chaos and strife, who believe in war, violence
and separation, that option will also be available.
Dannion: You've got to remember: In
order for the new to live, the old must pass away. And that
which is passing away doesn't always go easily or quietly.
The Mayans had knowledge of the hologram and the Mayan Calendar
is one. These ancient people had knowledge of the underworld,
that's their name for the dimensions of shifting energy
that facilitate our lives in a paralleling universe. We
live in multidimensional reality that is now offering us
a heightened awareness. Now, at a certain point in our travels
to the center of the galaxy we experience a shift in consciousness.
This energetic shift in consciousness will then move through
the universe, opening us to brighter, more enlightened places
and more levels of existence than we now realize. At that
point we will also know a sense of freedom that will no
longer tolerate being controlled and regulated the way we
are now.
Devra: Is this part of what your Centers are to be about?
Dannion: In 1975, I spent 28 minutes
in Heaven. During that time, 13 Beings of Light counseled
me regarding my mission on Earth. They told me that I was
being sent back into my charred and lifeless body as I could
accomplish two things: Spiritualistic Capitalism and the
Centers for Stress Reductions. I realize now that Spirit
isn't a capitalist and everything isn't about making money,
but money is needed to do good works that create programs
to benefit other people. Once that was achieved, I was to
create the Centers which are composed of an eight step program
which is dedicated to stress management. There is little
doubt that stress is the #1 killer. Stress is what happens
when people let lower vibration physical/mental things get
between them and their emotional/spiritual higher selves.
So, the Centers 8-step de-stressing, rejuvenating program
is a sacred way to create inner serenity while it eliminates
separation between your and your own Divinity.
Devra: That 8-step program, is that something you teach
or have you written about it in one of your books?
Dannion: Well, the steps are outlined
in all of my books. But it will be an actual place. It'll
be a place where people can come. Kathryn was given the
same vision except her 8-step Center is a crop circle…
Kathryn: Stop it, Dannion. That’s
not true Devra. He just loves to tease me about my fascination
with crop circles. But quite honestly, back in 1987, right
after the Harmonic Convergence I started receiving channelings
from the Archangel Uriel. I was told, at that time, I was
to build a healing light center in the desert.
Dannion: Just like the ancient healing
temples, the Oracle of Delphi, or the Aesclapios Dream Incubation
Centers. These ancient oracular structures are meant to
be brought into modern times. I was also shown how to construct
a sound bed for relaxation and out of body experiences.
The Thirteen Beings of Light referred to this bed as the
Klini. It is designed to create an environment that allows
a person to reduce inner stress levels to the point where
they are capable of leaving this level of consciousness
altogether in order to enter a level of deep peace and harmony.
Devra: When do you plan to open the Center?
Kathryn: This mutual goal will be achieved
before the end of 2008!
Devra: Do you two have any new books coming out soon?
Kathryn: We are finally going to finish
a book that I have been working on for years. I call it
spiritual smut. It’s where the Dalai Lama meets Danielle
Steele. Oh, trust me it's going to be a delicious read.
But, you know, Devra, my big dream is to take Dannion’s
story (our story) and put it on Broadway as a musical.
Dannion: And she'll pull this off,
I have no doubt. In the meantime, we are also very excited
about having our own separate columns in Mystic Pop
starting this year!
Devra: Yes, and I thank you so much for this interview and
all of your ongoing support of my magazine.
